How Dogs Evovle - 1070 Words

How Dogs have Evolved Every wonder how â€Å"Man’s best friend† evolved? With over 350 different breeds, from the Chihuahua to the Great Dane, all dogs have descended from the Grey Wolf. The domestication of dogs by man dates back at least twelve thousand years. Domestication of the wolf may have begun with orphaned wolf cubs brought into villages and raised by children. Ancient man may have also started the domestication process by befriending wolves which helped them hunt and drive herds. (Kodat, 2002) Having a semi-tame wolves has its advantages. Field Labradors are generally longe r legged, lighter, and lither in build. In the head, show Labradors tend to have broader heads, better defined stops, and more powerful necks, while field Labradors have lighter and slightly narrower heads with longer muzzles. The Effect of Hip-Hop on Female AAE Speakers Essay

â€Å"He dont smack that ass and pull your hair like that† is a rather vulgar and demeaning statement, yet it is freely sung in Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke, a song that was in the top ten on the Billboard list of the most popular RB/Hip-Hop songs in 2013. Because hip-hop is a very large part of the African American culture, and many speakers of African American English (AAE) are portrayed through these songs, women are often highly influenced by the objectification of their bodies in hip-hop songs. Since the emergence of the hip-hop genre in popular culture in the 1960s and 70s, women’s bodies have been sexually objectified through this music. Although the impact of the sexualization of women’s bodies in hip-hop songs is still very†¦show more content†¦It is clear that hip-hop music and music videos objectify women; however, there have been feminist movements that have begun reducing this sexualization. Clearly, hip-hop music has not been particularly helpful with a feminist movement, especially because the songs that are most popular are mostly performed by men. It is also important to note that not all of these men are AAE speakers and many of them are crossing over. On the Billboard charts for 2013, of the top twenty RB/Hip-hop songs, only four were performed by women, and only one of those performed by a woman was in the top ten. The concept of â€Å"Hip-hop feminism† as described by Whitney Peoples is a movement that involves â€Å"reconciliation and reclamation† (26) by young African American women in the United States of the male hip-hop culture that they grew up with. The overall goals of hip-hop feminism are to empower black women and to create systemic change to allow for social justice, and Whitney claims that these goals are evident through history, but each group of black women finds different ways to reach these objectives. There are various ways for black women to find power and navigate the misogyny found in hip-hop music. The most influential way to do so is for African American women to create their own

Part A: Dear Corporate America, You are making us fat. You are making us fat through your trans-fat-rich foods complete if, and only if, they contain enough saturated fat to clog our arteries and heart. It is the foods that you are creating that are resulting in the downfall of American health. Daily, processed foods asunder any nutritional integrity that we possess. In a way, such corporations, producing unhealthy foods, are an omnipotent force that usurper our everyday lives in an effort to produce revenue. We acquiesce to societal norms by ingesting the slop that corporations like you produce; yet, we are the ones making the decision to put poison into our bodies. You do not accost us and force feed us your food; nay, we enthusiastically devour crunchy chips out of shiny bags without considering the lifetime consequences. You are the devil snake tempting us with fruit, and we are Eve: innocent and blissfully unaware of the future effects that your fruit will have. While it is not your responsibility to ensure that people are consuming your food responsibly, it is your fault that foods that cause atherosclerosis and heart attacks are even available. While the American public does need to change its thoughts about nutrition, large corporations need to change their ingredients and their mentalities. Respectfully, part a: French fries are delicious. Truly, they are a staple food in the American diet. Any American that doesn’t regularly partake in the consumption of fries is essentially omitting perfidy. To date, McDonald’s is an omnipotent leader in the fast food world. Other fast food chains may try to accost the spread of McDonald’s’ successful corporation, but they are forced to acquiesce to the standards that have already been set. Recently, there has been much debate over the use of healthy foods and their practical use compared to unhealthy, fatty foods. Many have evinced data concerning heart disease and other health problems. These people are in favor of creating healthy alternatives for regular fast food buyers to choose. However, it is my belief that by implementing healthy choices will not change the lifestyle of people that are accustomed to eating fatty foods every day. Americans should make their own food choices and be actively aware of what they are consuming; supinely choosing meals anymore is not an option. It is not the duty of the fast food restaurants to change America’s eating habits. Those that wish to live a long and healthy life need to abdicate unhealthy foods from their life and make a true lifestyle change. How to cite Word of the Day, Papers
